La catégorie HYPERCAR représente le sommet de la compétition en FIA WEC depuis 2021. Elle regroupe des prototypes à carrosserie fermée, engagés par les plus grandes marques automobiles et permet deux types de véhicules homologués : les LMH (Le Mans Hypercar / depuis 2021) et les LMDh (Le Mans Daytona hypercar / depuis 2022).

Concernant les LMH (Le Mans Hypercar)
Les LMH sont conçues de A à Z par les constructeurs, avec une liberté presque totale sur le plan technique. Elles peuvent être hybrides ou non (à traction intégrale si
hybride) et se distinguent souvent par un design inspiré de la marque.

Quelques éléments informatifs concernant 2026 :
Concernant les LMDh (Le Mans Daytona Hypercar)
Les LMDh, quant à elles, offrent une solution plus standardisée pour limiter les dépenses. Le châssis provient obligatoirement d’un des 4 fournisseurs agréés, mais les
constructeurs développent leur propre moteur thermique. L’hybridation est commune à tous.

La catégorie LM P2 est une classe intermédiaire des courses d'endurance, conçue exclusivement pour des équipes privées (non liées aux constructeurs automobiles majeurs).
C’est ainsi une véritable pépinière de talents et un terrain de jeu stratégique où la performance passe aussi par la régularité et la gestion.
Ces protos ne peuvent plus être présentés au calendrier du WEC depuis 2024, mais conserve sa place aux 24 Heures du
Mans, grâce à son importance historique et son accessibilité.

La catégorie LM GT3 a fait son entrée en FIA WEC en 2024, remplaçant les anciennes LM GTE Pro et Am. Ce changement majeur vise à réduire les coûts, uniformiser les règlements
avec d'autres championnats internationaux (IMSA, GT World Challenge et autres) et ouvrir la porte à un plus grand nombre de constructeurs et de pilotes, notamment via l’approche
Client / Customer Racing.
Pourquoi cette nouvelle catégorie?
✅ Accessibilité accrue : les LMGT3 sont issues de modèles de route déjà homologués en GT3, ce qui réduit les coûts de développement
✅ Synergie mondiale : une voiture LMGT3 peut rouler en FIA WEC, IMSA, ELMS, GT World Challenge, etc.
✅ Engagement des constructeurs : grâce à l’ouverture de cette catégorie, 8 marques sont engagées en 2025
❌ Standardisation technique : bien que plus ouvertes, les GT3 n’ont pas l’aura technologique des LM GTE, avec moins de liberté dans le développement
❌ Performances contrôlées : via la BoP (Balance of Performance), les performances sont équilibrées... mais cela peut parfois créer des frustrations selon les courses

The LM P2 category is an intermediate class in endurance racing, designed exclusively for private teams (not affiliated with major automotive manufacturers). It is a true
talent incubator and a strategic playground where performance also relies heavily on consistency and race management.
These prototypes have no longer been part of the FIA WEC calendar since 2024, but still retain their place at the 24 Hours of Le
Mans, thanks to their historical importance and accessibility.

The LM GT3 category was introduced into the FIA WEC in 2024, replacing the former LM GTE Pro and Am classes. This major shift aims to reduce costs, align regulations with
other international championships (IMSA, GT World Challenge and others), and open the door to a wider range of manufacturers and drivers, particularly through the Customer Racing approach.
Why this new category?
✅ Increased accessibility : LMGT3 cars are based on road-derived models already homologated in GT3, reducing development costs
✅ Global synergy : an LMGT3 car can compete in FIA WEC, IMSA, ELMS, GT World Challenge, etc.
✅ Manufacturer involvement : thanks to this category, 8 brands were entered in 2025
❌ Technical standardization : although more accessible, GT3 cars do not carry the same technological prestige as LM GTE, with less freedom in development
❌ Performance control : through BoP (Balance of Performance), performance is equalized… but this can sometimes lead to frustration depending on the race
